Data Services Resources
- Datastream: Datastream provides access to a vast, up-to-date databank of global economic, company, market, and financial data that is available in both text and graphical format.
Types of coverage include Equities, Bonds, Company Accounts, Stock Market Indices, Interest and Exchange Rates, Economic Statistics, Futures and Options, Warrants, and Commodities.
Sources of data include stock market indices from WI Carr, the IFC, JP Morgan and Stanley, bond indices from the ISMA, Salomon Brothers and Paribas, and economics data from the Deutsche Bundesbank, the IMF, and the OECD.
In addition to current and recent data, Datastream provides data in time series. Historical coverage varies. Approximately 50 countries are covered to some degree by Datastream.
Examples of the types of questions that a researcher might answer with Datastream include:
What are the closing figures for the Standard and Poors composite price index, showing the daily values for the past 3 months?
What are the profit and loss accounts for a list of six UK and Dutch companies?
What is the basic data for an equity, say British Petroleum, together with a graph showing the price of the stock, and the price of the local market index rebased to the starting value of the stock 12 months ago?
FORMAT: Online access to remote databank via locally installed software.
UPDATES: Ongoing updates of remote databank. Weekly remote updates of locally stored codes database. Daily updates on request.
RESTRICTIONS: Datastream may only be accessed by University of Georgia faculty, staff, and students.
Datastream is available on Data Services' special access workstations in the Main Reference room. Hours of access are Monday - Friday from 8:00am to 12 Noon.
